Our Story
About Sonarevo
Independent voices, passionate about Germany's live music scene since 2018.
Our Mission
Documenting Sound, One Venue at a Time
Sonarevo began as a personal blog by three Berlin-based music writers who were frustrated by shallow concert coverage that prioritised spectacle over substance. We wanted to answer the questions fans actually ask: How does it sound from the back? Is the queueing manageable? Does the atmosphere match the ticket price?
Six years later, we have documented over 340 live shows across 16 German cities, covering everything from intimate jazz cellars to 85,000-person open-air festivals. Everything we publish is experienced firsthand, written without commercial influence, and offered entirely free of charge.
What We Believe
Our Core Principles
Editorial Independence
We accept no advertising, sponsorships, or complimentary tickets. Every ticket is purchased; every opinion is our own.
Rigorous Research
We attend events multiple times before publishing definitive venue assessments. One show is a data point; three shows are a pattern.
Fan-First Perspective
Our writing addresses the paying audience, not the industry. Accessibility, comfort, and value for money matter to us deeply.
Our History
How Sonarevo Grew
Founded in Berlin
Three music writers launch Sonarevo as a blog covering Berlin's club and concert scene. First major review: the Berliner Philharmoniker summer outdoor series.
Expanding Across Germany
Coverage expands to Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, and Frankfurt. We attend Rock am Ring for the first time and publish our first multi-day festival report.
Post-Pandemic Return
After the concert industry restarts, Sonarevo documents how German venues adapted — new layouts, revised capacities, and the electric atmosphere of audiences returning to live music.
Fan Culture Series Launches
We begin our ongoing series analysing German concert audiences: their behaviours, expectations, and how fandom culture differs city by city.
120+ Venues Documented
Sonarevo reaches a landmark 120 reviewed venues across Germany, and relaunches with this redesigned platform dedicated to long-form concert journalism.
